Obituary

Arthur Milton Ledford, God's servant, and friend to all, went home to heaven on February 3, 2021 due to Covid-19. Born on November 13, 1942 in Lawndale, he was the son of the late Columbus Mills and Minnie Mae (Macie) Swink Ledford. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Walter Ledford, Roger Ledford and wife Pat and nephew Mike Ledford; his brother-in-law, Buddy Self. His daughter, Anita Ledford, preceded him in death in November 2020.

Arthur was a graduate of Burns at Polkville and served in the US Army in Germany. He worked 28 years for Cleveland Mills until it closed. He retired from Cleveland County Schools. He was a member of Casar UMC for 43 years where he was Lay Leader, member of UMM and Chairman of PPR. He was a former Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and trustee.

Arthur loved being outside. He grew vegetables, and flowers, which he shared with everyone. He and his brother made yards look beautiful. He fed birds of all kinds and could be seen on the front porch watching hummingbirds and butterflies in the summer and birds at his feeders in the winter.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Cooke Ledford; his sons and their wives, Nathaniel & Kellie Jackson Ledford, Wesley & Kellie Jo Boggs Ledford; his grandsons, Ethan and Emmett Ledford; his brother, Andy Ledford; sister, Gladys Self and many extended family members and friends. He loved each of you.

The family wants to thank the doctors and nurses at Atrium Health-Cleveland ER and ICU for taking care of Arthur during this time in his life.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held at Casar United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday 2/6/2021, at 2:00 PM. Rev. William Lovelace, pastor and friend will conduct the service. Please wear masks and practice social distancing.

Instead of flowers, Memorials may be made to Casar UMC, PO Box 190
Casar, NC 28020.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Fallston.

Arthur was a kind and friendly person, with an ever ready smile. I am so sorry for your loss and the pain and difficulties of his extended illness, as well as it coming so close after your Anita's death. Praying for you all. Again we are so sorry. Dan and Marla McCabe
