David Spangler

Arthur David Spangler, 75, of Belwood passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at White Oak Manor of Shelby.

Born December 4, 1945, he was the son of the late Arthur Lee Spangler, Jr. and Irene Costner Spangler.

David served three tours in Vietnam serving with the United States Marine Corps. During his time with the Marines, David served as a Aviation Mechanic specializing in Jet Helicopters. David received top honors during his training, finishing first in his class. After his time in the Marines, David was a loyal employee of Carolina Freight Carriers for 24 years where he served as a mechanic.

David was an avid John Deere tractor enthusiast. He loved going to tractor pulls. David also loved welding, crafting things with his hands, and a love for animals especially cats.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jackie Spangler Taylor and JoAnne Spangler.

Survivors include three daughters, Amanda Beam and husband, Mark of Fallston, Lisa Bridges and husband, Kevin of Fallston and Pam Ross and husband, Clark of Candler; seven grandchildren, Seth McCurry of Spokane, WA, Evan Ross and wife, Mackenzie of Greensboro, Jessica Clewis and husband, Zac of Shelby, Anna Howard and Bishop of Mt. Holly, Joshua Beam and fiancee, Katlyn Connor of Fallston, Daniel Ross of Candler and Elizabeth Bridges of Fallston; one great-grandchild, Sloane Ross of Greensboro and brothers and sisters, Carroll Spangler and wife, Barbara of Shelby, Janice Costner Spangler of Lawndale, Daniel Spangler and wife, Rhoda of Monroe and Brenda Cook and husband, Randy of Casar.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Rose Hill Memorial Park , Fallston.

Memorials may be made to Cleveland County Animal Services, 1601 Airport Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
