Obituary for Bessie Willis
Bessie Ross Willis, 91 of Willis Road, Vale, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Lincoln County, NC on January 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Clarence Ross and Olliebell Marr Ross. Mrs. Willis was retired from Bassett Furniture Company. She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church where she attended for 74 years and was also apart of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Willis dedicated 15 years to helping with the Laurel Hill Food Pantry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.R. Willis, Jr.; a grandchild; five brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include her children, Janice Conner and husband, Glenn of Morganton, Roger Willis and wife, Susan of Vale, Jeanette Shull of Vale, Vickie Walker and husband, Johnny of Vale, Renee Johnson and Charlie Waldron of Vale, and a brother, Dallas Ross of Conover; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Norton and Pastor Forrestene Sain officiating.
The burial will follow the service in the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
