Obituary for Bobby Self
Bobby Dene Self, 76 of Hallman Mill Road, Vale, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Atrium Health - Cabarrus, Concord.
Born in Lincoln County, NC on February 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Ernest Lee Self and Laura Minnie Brittain Self. Mr. Self was retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of David's Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Self and Gene Self and two sisters, Coleen Boston and Merle Rhoney.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Costner Self; son, Bobby James Self and wife, Kerrie of Lawndale; daughter, Suzanne Self Benton and husband, John of Greensboro; three brothers, Coy Self, David Self and Farrell Self; four sisters, Nell Baker, Joann Starnes, Judy Lovelace and Sandy Leatherman; five grandchildren, Alexander and wife, Megan, Savannah, Bailey, Glen and Monica and one great-granddaughter, Blaire.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 3:00pm at David's Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Forrestene Sain and Rev. Johnny Norton officiating.
The burial will follow the service in David's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 784 David's Chapel Church Rd., Lawndale, NC 28090.
