Mrs. Bonnie Jane Smith Wellman, 96 of 833 W. Marion Street, Shelby passed away February 15, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born August 1, 1911 in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Truman James Smith and Nancy Emma Rudisill Smith; she was retired as a seamstress for Sweetree and was a member of the Non-Denominational Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Walter Wellman; a son, W.A. Wellman; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; seven brothers and one sister. Mrs. Wellman is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Barbara Wellman of Lincolnton and Bobby and Margaret Wellman of Lincolnton; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Bridges of Shelby; Margie and Glenn Davis of Hickory; Clara and Kenneth Pasour of Dallas; Ruth Hollar of Hickory and Edna Dean & Darrell Rhyne of Lincolnton; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 18, 2008 at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Slade Blend and Mr. Kevin Killam officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Stamey Funeral Home.
