Obituary for Carl Glenn Bivens

Carl Glenn Bivens, 80, of Vale, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at his home.

Born in Lincoln County, on June 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Dock William Bivens and Annie Mae Fulbright Bivens. Carl began his fifty-eight years truck driving career with Sain and Sain Trucking and then retired from Case Farms. He was an active member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where he could be found mowing the grass and helping with church meals.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, James, Everette, Carmie, Walter, William, and Paul Bivens and two sisters, Effie Hamilton and Vertie Mae Bivens

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Rita Houser Bivens, son, Donald Bivens, and wife Kathy of Cherryville; daughter Diann Pence and husband, Norman of Fort Mill, SC; two brothers, Claude Bivens of Vale and Gary Bivens of Connelly Springs; four grandchildren, Travis Pence, Sarah Pence both of Fort Mill, SC, Shannon Smith of Lincolnton, and Ashley Smith of Vale; three great-grandchildren, Andrea Smith Haeck, Dylan Smith, and Levi Smith and two great-great-grandchildren, Colton Haeck and McKenzie Haeck

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 11, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Fulker officiating.

It is requested that those in attendance wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
