Obituary for Christine McMurry
Christine Willis McMurry, 86, of W. Stagecoach Trail, Shelby, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born in Cleveland County on November 10, 1934 , she was the daughter of the late Carmie Marshall Willis and Lillie Mae Newton Willis. She was retired from Sears & Roebuck and was a member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church. Mrs. McMurry was a member of the Eastern Star and was a cub scout den mother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty eight years, James A. McMurry, Sr. ; step-mother, Myra Blanton Willis and two brothers, Johnny Ray Willis and Clyde Willis.
Survivors include one son, James Anders McMurry, Jr. "Jimmy" and wife Julie of Polkville; one daughter, Teresa Gettys and husband Roger of Polkville; four grandchildren, Christopher D. Gettys of Shelby, Sean W. Gettys and wife Skye of Polkville, Jason McMurry of Shelby and Andy McMurry and wife Joni of Polkville; six great grandchildren, Morgan Miller, Reese Gettys, Connor McMurry Davis, Tenley Gettys, Colton McMurry and Thea Gettys; three sisters, Sue Pittman of Hickory, Mildred McMurry of Polkville and Mary Ellen McCarey of Youngsville.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Palm Tree United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Nichols officiating.
