Glenn Short
Glenn Arkin Short, 85, of Casar Methodist Church Road, Casar, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Ruffin Scott Short and Effie Grey Price Short. Mr. Short was retired from the US Army where he served in Vietnam and Korea and received a Bronze Star. He was also retired as a real estate agent. Mr. Short was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a member of the Casar Masonic Lodge #579.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Short; a daughter, Terry Peace; five brothers, Buland, Ophus, Tilford, Boyd and Hubert Short and a sister, Selma Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bessie Thompson Short; a son, John Short and wife, Susan of Shelby; two daughters, Nancy Short of Casar and Susan Short Williams and husband, Danny of Casar; a brother, Hoover Short of Columbia, SC; a sister, Naomi Parker of Casar; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Bridges officiating. Mr. Short will lie in state from 1:30pm to 2:00pm on Sunday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
The burial will follow the service in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
