Obituary for James A. McMurry, Sr.
James Anders McMurry, Sr., 84 , of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born in Cleveland County, on August 21, 1936, he was the son of the late James Wayne McMurry and Laura Essie Shuford McMurry. He was a retired truck driver for Johnson Motor Lines and was the owner of McMurry and Son Wood Frame Mfg. where he retired in 2000. He was a member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church and Camp Call Masonic Lodge 534.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ella Elliott, Thelma Beatrice Jenkins and Margaret McMurry.
Survivors include his wife of sixty eight years, Christine Willis McMurry; one son, James Anders McMurry, Jr. "Jimmy" and wife Julie of Polkville; one daughter, Teresa Gettys and husband Roger of Polkville; four grandchildren, Christopher D. Gettys of Shelby, Sean W. Gettys and wife Skye of Polkville, Jason McMurry of Shelby and Andy McMurry and wife Joni of Polkville; six great grandchildren, Morgan Miller, Reese Gettys, Connor McMurry Davis, Tenley Gettys, Colton McMurry and Thea Gettys.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00PM at Palm Tree United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Nichols officiating.
