Obituary for James Walter Porter

James Walter Porter, 60, of Lawndale, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home.

Born in Montana on October 10, 1960, he was the son of the late Donald Jerry Porter and Betty Iler Porter. He was retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class in the Military Police. Following his service he worked in the security field. James was a member of Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church and loved to be out doors deer hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Porter.

He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn Moore Porter; son, James Porter and wife, Jessica of Nashville, TN; daughter, Tiffany McKee and husband, Brett of Iowa, Louisiana; stepson, Christopher Robbins of Forest City; stepdaughter, Jennifer Wilkins and husband Ron of Forest City; bother, Robbie Porter and wife Tonya of Cherryville; sister, Tonya P. Willis of Cherryville; mother-in-law, Mildred "Granny" Moore of Shelby; a friend who became family, Beth Weatherford of Polkville; former stepson-in-law, Billy Fields; and five grandchildren, Landon McKee, Karlee McKee, Landen Fields, Peyton Fields, Camron Robbins.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Wilkins officiating.
