Obituary for Joan Bivins Smith
Joan Gertrude Bivins Smith, 85, of Fallston, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at her home.
Born in Cleveland County, on May 23, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Veles Brevard Bivins and Blanche Williams Bivins. She was a retired CNA and a member of Carpenters Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Darrell Bivins.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Fred Parker Smith; son, Richard Smith and wife Lisa of Casar; two daughters, Karen Gold and husband Clyde of Shelby and Lisa Bridges of Marion; four brothers, Dale Bivins of Gastonia, Glenn Bivins, Tommy Bivins, and Randy Bivins all of Lawndale; a sister, Pat Sanford of Lawndale; six grandchildren, Kiley Gold, Jennifer Gold, Candace Gold, Travis Smith, Emily Towell, and Miranda Bridges; and a great grandson, Jase Lee Towell.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry Floyd officiating.
