To the Mitchem Family;
Joyce shared the love of Christ with her food. When you ate at her home on a Sunday afternoon with family there the amount of food that was left after everyone had their fill was enough for all of us to do it again. When she was at the restaurant she would come out and sit with me and just talk. Being alone it was like family. She made a difference in my stay with the people of the Methodist Charge in the county. May the peace of Christ be with you as you go forth.

Joyce was not only my loving sister but a second Mom to me when I was just a child. I have precious memories of her that I will forever cherish. My husband, Butch, and I loved to go to her house to visit. She always had something sweet on hand that she had baked and insisted you have some. Joyce was an excellent cook and homemaker. To all who knew her she was a very special, generous, caring, person and always willing to lend a helping hand. Joyce loved attending our family functions. Family was very important to her. She was so proud of her two sons, Carrol and Wayne and their wives, Robin and Crystal; but, like most grandmothers, her pride and joy were in her two Granddaughters, Regan and Jordan whom she loved dearly and unconditionally. I am saddened by her passing, my heart is broken, and I will miss her but In my heart I know she is in a much better place where she will be made well and never have to suffer pain again. God always knows best.

Joyce was a pillar of the Vale community and very much involved in "everything family". I know that you all will miss her dearly, but we know that she's now with her beloved Heavenly family now.

Joyce was a precious little lady and friend to me. Jean Jenks, Guynell Bingham, and I visited her often at Brian Center in Lincolnton before Covid-19 hit. Every visit was special with her. She always talked about her Lord and Savior, how precious her family was to her, and how much her church and friends meant to her. She was always smiling. I will greatly miss her. May God bless her family during this sad time. Love in Christ, Monika Houser
