Obituary for JT Smith
JT Smith, 81, of Vale, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory.
Born in Cleveland County, on June 29, 1939, he was a son of the late George Smith and Sarah Watts Smith. He was retired from Carolina Freight, and an active member of Hull's Grove Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. JT also delivered Meals on Wheels in his community for over twenty years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Smith.
He survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Judy Tallent Smith; two sons, Mark Smith and wife Amy and Wesley Smith and wife Marcie all of Vale; three grandchildren, Cole Smith, Nathan Smith, and Caitlin Smith; brother, Joe Smith and wife Faye of Vale; sister, Margie Sain of Lincolnton; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Tallent and wife Crystal all of Vale and Jeff Tallent and wife Toni of Hickory; sister-in-law, Joyce Houser and husband Fred of Vale; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at11:00 am at Hull's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Farmer Rev. Marcus Redding and Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey officiating. Mr. Smith will lie in state one hour before the service.
The burial will follow the service in the Hull's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hull's Grove Baptist Church, 6670 W Highway 27, Vale, NC 28168.
