Obituary for Larry E. Cook
Larry Edward Cook, 74, of Macedonia Church Road, Vale, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory.
Born in Cleveland County on November 14, 1946, he was the son of Clara Nell Davis Cooke of Vale and the late Lloyd Jasper Cooke. He was retired from the NC Department of Corrections and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Larry also served as a Gideon.
In addition to his mother, survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheila Bivens Cook; a daughter, Chrystal Cook Price and husband, Derek of Granite Falls; a son, Steven Cook of Hickory; a granddaughter, Ashlyn Price; two brothers, Ronnie Cooke and wife, Janet of Vale and Ricky Cooke of Lincolnton; a sister, Carolyn Cook and husband, Arnold of Vale; a brother-in-law, Ricky Bivens and wife, Cindy of Hickory and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in the sanctuary.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey and Rev. Keith Rose officiating. The service will be held outside on the front lawn of the church. Please bring a lawn chair.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
The burial will follow the service in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
