Obituary

Margie Lee McKinney Hewitt, 88, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation Center, Cherryville.

Born in Madison County on October 26, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Geter McKinney and Ocie Waldrop McKinney. She was retired from FASCO and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Randall Hewitt; son, Steven Hewitt; daughter, Susan Hewitt Davis; two brothers, Donald McKinney and Ernest McKinney; and a sister, Grace Sluder.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Hewitt of Shelby; daughter, Maria Grigg and husband, Everette of Waco; eight grandchildren, Amy Lovelace, Laura Sturgis, Daniel Grigg and wife Charity, Heather Brackett and husband Todd, Sammy Davis, Taylor Hewitt, Tyler Hewitt, and Blake Hewitt; eleven great grandchildren, Michael Lovelace III and wife Victoria, Cody Lovelace, Amber Sturgis, Levi Sturgis, Dawson Sturgis, Kensly Grigg, Ethan Grigg, Hayden Abercrombie, Caleb Brackett, Bayley Brackett, and Kennedy Hewitt; one great great granddaughter, Demi Lovelace and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Capernaum Cemetery with the Rev. Neal Efird, officiating.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.

You will be missed here on this earth but what a reunion you are having. Happy to think of your rejoicing, laughing and joy you are experiencing. What a glad reunion day it will be when we meet again. Prayers for the grief of the family after losing such a sweet Angel on earth. Heaven sure is getting sweeter every day.
