Obituary for Nell Wright Oliver
Nell Joyce Wright Oliver, 86, of Shelby, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
She was born in Cleveland County on April 17, 1936, and was the daughter of Robert Gaston Wright and Myrtle Mae Grigg Wright. She was a retired supervisor at Specialty Lighting and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Nell was a loving wife, mother and mawmaw who cherished every moment with her family and all the memories they made together. She will be remembered for always wanting to spend time with them and taking family picnics. Nell enjoyed working in her yard and flower garden as well as taking trips to the mountains and the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harland “Bud” Wright and Robert “Bus” Wright.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Lawrence Junior Oliver; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Lynn Oliver, and Dale and Elizabeth Oliver all of Shelby; four grandchildren and spouses, Lindsay Oliver and Dan Sachs of Washington DC, Brittany and Caleb Wray, Craig and Tori Oliver, and Courtney and Clay Huffstetler all of Shelby; two great-grandchildren, Cylas and Olivia Wray and two on the way and her beloved beagle Sarge.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Nell's caregivers Charlotte, Claudia, Margaret, Erika, and Kristina for all of their love and support.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2:00 PM Bethel Baptist Church with the Dr. Tim Sims officiating. Mrs. Oliver will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
