Nellie Sue Craig Swafford, 70, of Boosville Curve Road, Vale, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory.
Born in Cleveland County, on October 27, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Marshall J. Craig and Edna Lucille Keller Craig. She was retired from Cooksville Hosiery and was a member of Charity Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Lingerfelt and a sister, Helen Craig.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Swafford; a son, Raymond Lingerfelt and wife, Stephanie of Vale; four step-children, Joseph Swafford of Concord, Chris Swafford, Jessica Swafford and Sarah Swafford all of Shelby; three brothers, James Craig of Vale, Fred Craig of Hildebran and Ernest Craig of Vale; two sisters, Shelia Ramsey of Vale and Diane Allison of Lincolnton; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Sue will lie-in-state on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. The family will not be present during this time.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 3:30 pm at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawndale with the Rev. Shane Ramsey officiating.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
