Obituary for Paul S. Parker

Paul Suthel Parker, 98, of Big Springs Church Rd., Ellenboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Testa Hospice House, Kings Mountain .

Born in Cleveland County on January 13, 1924, he was a son of the late Marvin Zero Parker and Hester Canipe Parker. He was retired from Cleveland Floor Covering and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Parker also served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He served on the front lines 77 continuous days in the Americal Division.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Parker and Gene Parker.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Betty Irvin Parker; one son, Michael R. Parker and wife San Dee Sheftall of Asheville; two daughters, Susan Parker Mauney and husband Mike of Nashville, NC and Emily Powell of Lawndale; one sister, Genell McKinney of Ellenboro; six grandchildren, Laura Davis and husband Jason, Angela Russell and husband Chris, Leslie Johnson and husband Alan, Kayla Powell, Krista Powell and Katherine Powell; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Big Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at Big Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Scott officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
