Obituary for Sandra Reader Childress
Sandra Reader Childress, 81, of Thaxton, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.
Born in Ripley, Oklahoma, on May 18, 1941, she was a daughter of the late William Reader and Vern Lucille Ballard Reader. She was retired from AAA Area Manager for Western Virginia. Sandra was very active in the Memphis, TN PTA program also serving on the Tennessee State PTA. After her retirement she volunteered for the Roanoke Homeless Shelter. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Thaxton, VA.
Sandra's main love in life was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Kelly Lee Childress and sister, Delores Behrens.
She is survived by her son, Brian Childress; three daughters, Ginger Walker, Tracy Vines, and Kelly Carter; sister, Elizabeth Caudle; and seven grandchildren, Bobby Carter, Maverick Carter, Randi Carter, Shane Vines, Katlyn Kaminsky, Bailey Childress, and Keith Childress.
A private memorial service will be held.
